Every warehouse user who signs in to the VisionScan app must be enabled on the User Setup page in Business Central. Here you decide which areas the user sees in the app, restrict them to specific projects or locations, and set the credentials they sign in with. The mobile menu shows only the areas that are turned on for that user.

Note

Before enabling users, publish the web service and configure the areas you use on the VisionScan Setup page. To learn more, go to Setting up VisionScan.

To enable a user

  1. Choose the Search icon, enter User Setup, then choose the related link.
  2. Select the line for the user, or choose New to add one.
  3. In the Email field, enter the e-mail address the user signs in with in the app.
  4. Turn on each Show … field for the areas the user needs:
    • Show Purchase Order Receipt — receive goods against purchase orders.
    • Show Sales Order Shipment — ship goods against sales orders.
    • Show Sales Return Order — process sales returns.
    • Show Location Transfer — move stock between locations.
    • Show Inventory Counting — run inventory counts.
    • Show Job Usage — register project usage.
  5. Optionally, restrict the user's data:
    • In the Job No. Filter field, enter a filter to limit which projects the user sees.
    • In the Location Code Filter field, enter a filter to limit which locations the user sees.
  6. If the user signs in with a password rather than a Microsoft account, enter the password in the VisionScan App Password field.

Sign-in credentials

The Email field is used as the user name in the app. When users sign in with a password (legacy login), the password comes from the VisionScan App Password field, which is masked. When users sign in with their Microsoft account, no password is stored in Business Central.
