VisionScan lets warehouse users capture photos while they receive, ship, and handle goods, and stores those photos against the related record in Business Central. You can view the photos from a factbox on the record or from a dedicated photo list. This is useful for documenting the condition of goods, proving a shipment left the warehouse, or recording damage on arrival.
Note
Photo documentation is enabled on the VisionScan website. Photos are stored either in the Business Central database or on a file path configured on the website. The Url field on the VisionScan Setup page tells Business Central where to load the images from. To learn more, go to Setting up VisionScan.
Where photos appear
VisionScan shows photos in several places, depending on the record:
- On the Vendor Card, choose the Show Photos action to open the Photos list, or read the count in the Photos factbox.
- On a sales order and a posted sales shipment, the Photos factbox shows the captured photos.
- On a posted purchase receipt line and in the Purchase Line Details factbox, the No. of Photos field shows how many photos were captured. Choose the value to open them.
The Photos list
The Photos list shows one line per photo linked to the record, with the No. of Photos column linking to each image. Choose a line to open the photo. When a photo URL is configured on the VisionScan Setup page, the photo opens from the website; otherwise it opens from the stored link.
The Photo factbox
The Photo factbox displays the selected image inline. The image is loaded from the photo URL configured on the VisionScan Setup page.
Save vendor photos automatically
To keep damage photos searchable from the vendor, turn on Save Photo Doc. on Vendor on the VisionScan Setup page. Photos taken on purchase documents are then also stored on the vendor.
