Warehouse users ship goods against existing sales orders by scanning items in the VisionScan app. The app writes the shipped quantities back to the sales order in Business Central, and — depending on your automation setting — leaves the order for posting, posts the shipment, or posts and prints it. VisionScan can also require a photo before a shipment is saved, either for a specific order or for every shipment to a customer.

Note

Configure the Sales group on the VisionScan Setup page before users ship goods, and turn on Show Sales Order Shipment for each user. To learn more, go to Setting up VisionScan and Enabling app users.

The shipping flow

  1. In the app, the user opens Sales Order Shipment and picks or scans the sales order.
  2. The user scans each item. The line's Qty. to Ship increases per scan.
  3. If Check Outbound Tracking is on, the app validates the scanned serial or lot against current inventory before accepting it.
  4. If a photo is required, the user attaches at least one photo before saving.
  5. On save, the shipment is forwarded to Business Central. The Sales Order Automation setting decides whether the shipment is posted automatically.

Require a photo on a shipment

You can require photo documentation at two levels:

  • On the Customer Card, turn on Photo Required to require a photo on every sales shipment to that customer.
  • On the Sales Order, turn on Photo Required to require a photo for a single order.

When a photo is required, the app keeps the save action disabled until at least one photo is attached.

Review photos after shipment

  • On the Sales Order, the Photos factbox shows the photos captured for the order.
  • On a posted sales shipment, the Photos factbox shows all photos captured during shipping.
