Warehouse users register project (job) usage on the spot by scanning the items they pick for a project in the VisionScan app, without opening a job journal. The app creates job journal lines in Business Central using the template, batch, and line type you configure, and can post the usage automatically. Each line records who scanned it, when, and — if you require it — who the items were handed over to.

Note

Configure the Jobs group on the VisionScan Setup page and turn on Show Job Usage for each user who registers usage. To learn more, go to Setting up VisionScan and Enabling app users.

The project usage flow

  1. In the app, the user opens the job usage area, then picks the project and the project task.
  2. The user scans each item used and adjusts the quantity if needed.
  3. If Use Handover To is on, the user enters who is receiving the items, for example a foreman or driver.
  4. On save, the website creates a job journal line in the configured Job Journal Template and Job Journal Batch, with the line type set to Default Job Journal Line Type.
  5. If Auto Post Usage is on, the line is posted immediately and the project consumption is updated. Otherwise the line stays in the job journal for review.

Review the usage lines

Open the Job Journal to review the lines the app created before posting. VisionScan adds three fields to each line:

Field Description
Scanned date/time The date and time the line was scanned in the app.
Scanned by User The user who scanned the line in the app.
Handed Over Who the products were handed over to, as recorded in the app.
